The owner of this ancient house is respected Mr. Duong Minh Hien, an old sentimental man, by chance, remaining in the 20th century. It is just thanks to its maintained ancientness that this house was chosen as one of recording sites for the romantic film "Lover" of producer J. Annaud.
Known as the biggest city of the Mekong Delta, Can Tho is located on the right bank of the Bassac River, the lower branch of the Mekong. This friendly, bustling city is connected to most other population centers in the Mekong Delta by a system of roads, rivers and canals. The most prominent feature of this area is the sights of wholesale floating markets, where buyers and sellers move around by boat, displaying typical activities of the local inhabitants, and where visitors can enjoy local fruit specialties such as pomelo, longan, jackfruit, mango and durian.
Go Thap Archaeological Area is well known for 5 main relics: Thap Muoi Hill, Co Tu Tower, Binh Kieu Grave, Minh Su Temple, and Ba Chua Xu Temple. Relics in this area bear great cultural and historical value.
Just like the Ganges to India, or Yangtze River to China, Mekong River has been the primary element that creates the natural environment and ecosystem from which the civilization of Mekong Delta was born.
Visitors will see thousands of small boats full of agricultural products from Western corners to form 1km long floating market. It's said to be a fruit-market of the Southern part and the market is cultural identity of the Mekong Delta.
